Department of Environmental Sciences

The Department of Environmental Sciences (ENVS) at Emory University, Atlanta, GA, seeks applicants for a full-time, nine-month tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor with a focus on biogeochemistry, beginning fall semester 2020. We welcome applications from candidates whose research addresses any aspect of biogeochemical cycling. We are particularly interested in candidates whose work focuses on the role of anthropogenic environmental changes on the dynamics of nutrients, toxins, pollutants and/or energy in ecosystems. Applications from candidates whose work has an interdisciplinary focus and/or those that combine disciplines in novel ways are especially encouraged.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop a widely-recognized research program that attracts external funding and contributes to the interdisciplinary mission of the department and the university; teach and mentor at both the graduate and undergraduate levels; and contribute to the department, university, and relevant professional societies and community through service, collaboration and engagement. Graduate student advising will occur through the MS program in the ENVS department, as well as Emory's Population Biology, Ecology, and Evolution (PBEE) PhD program and/or the Chemistry PhD program.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. or equivalent granted by the time of appointment, in environmental sciences, ecology, biology, geosciences, chemistry, or related fields. Candidates should demonstrate a clear trajectory for excellence in both research and teaching in a multidisciplinary setting, as well as a demonstrated commitment to enhancing inclusion and diversity.
